Have you heard the tale of the two Belgians that moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and missed their homeland cuisine so much that they bought a food cart and peddled authentic Belgian waffles at the local farmers market?
Pierre Vandamme and Philippe Wyffels are the Belgian natives and co-founders of Bruges Waffles & Frites. As they shared their authentic and flavorful Belgian waffles with the community of Salt Lake City, they created raving fans, and the demand for waffles resulted in the opening of a year round restaurant location in the heart of downtown. As business continued to grow, so did their menu, and later they were featured on popular TV show “Man V. Food.”
Currently, the company has three restaurant locations, and is offering franchise restaurants across the Mountain West in neighboring states as they continue toward their goal of creating a legend much like Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, or McDonald’s founder, Ray Kroc.
