Help Find the First Franchisee, Win a Trip to Belgium
SALT LAKE CITY– Bruges Waffles & Frites is searching for the first franchisee to help them expand their brand throughout the Western United States. The popular Utah-based restaurant franchise is asking their customers for help in finding the right person to join them in this exciting adventure. As a reward for the person who refers the first franchisee, Bruges is offering a trip for two to Bruges, Belgium!
“We have a very loyal fan base in Utah, many of whom travel and have connections across the country,” said Philippe Wyffels, Belgian native and co-founder of Bruges Waffles & Frites. “It makes sense to have the customers who already know and love us assist us in our quest to find the right person to expand our concept. We can think of no better way to reward them than with a trip to the country where it all began!”
Bruges has experienced explosive growth over the past ten years in their Utah restaurants, and is now looking to expand their unique and authentic brand throughout the western United States. The chain has recently been approved to franchise in most states in the western half of the US, with the exceptions of North Dakota and California. The company seeks franchise partners who are active participants in their community, and are willing to carry on the brand’s core values while keeping the authenticity of the chain a priority.
“Bruges is about community,” explained Wyffels, “Each of our franchisees will be welcomed into our franchise community where the sharing of ideas and innovations is encouraged, and where each owner will play an important role in their respected communities.”

Bruges began in 2002 when Belgian natives Pierre Vandamme and Philippe Wyffels met in Salt Lake City, Utah and reminisced about the old world cuisine from their childhoods. The two set out to recreate the famous Liège waffle, and soon discovered the demand for authentic food options. Soon after debuting their creation at the farmers market, the brand was relocated to a year round location in the heart of downtown Salt Lake. Since then, they have expanded their menu, their media attention, and their loyal fan base. The company currently owns four Utah restaurant locations and is offering franchise opportunities.
