11 Things Successful People Do Before Breakfast



Does it take you a long time to get energized and going each day? Do you see people around you that seem to have a day’s worth of tasks finished before you even finish your morning coffee?

If you’re ready to get more out of your day, try implementing some of these 11 tips that successful people do before breakfast to be more productive and have more energy.

1. Wake up before everyone else

Before the hustle and bustle of the day surrounds you, find time to quietly focus and meditate. Consider your tasks for the day, and what you’d like to do with your day. Sip on your coffee or caffeinated beverage of choice, preferably outside as the sun rises, and let the peaceful setting of the early morning help you start your day the right way.

2. Exercise

Once you get your heart pumping and muscles moving, you’ll perk right up for the day. Not to mention the blood flow to your brain will help clear your mind and help you focus, as well.

3. Write a to-do list

Get organized right off the bat by writing down everything you need to do that day, in order of importance. It’s easier to stay motivated and accomplished throughout the day if your tasks are clearly written out and in order.

4. Watch a motivational TED Talk

5. Drink water

You’ve probably heard that your body is made mostly of water, so doesn’t it only make sense that as our body uses that water, we need to keep replacing it? Like filling up your gas tank and changing your oil, your body needs PLENTY of water to operate smoothly, so if you’ve been looking for a new goal or habit to work on, drinking enough water each day should definitely be high on your list.

6. Do something you love

Start a project solely for pleasure that you can work on each morning. Maybe it’s an art project, a woodworking project, improving your jump shot, a scrapbook or other memoir-type project, etc. Taking the time to do something you love will give you the motivation to work hard each day.

7. Respond to and send emails

Get your emails out of the way so you can focus on your tasks at hand. Check your email at set intervals throughout the day so they don’t become a time-sink.

8. Spend quality time connecting with your family

Even if it’s not in person you can still write a note to leave your spouse, send a nice email to a family member, and make sure to give your children a kiss before you leave. This will help you keep your priorities straight throughout the day and give purpose to your work.

9. Meditate

10. Skim the news

Take a few minutes to get the highlights of the current events and affairs going on. This will be useful for workplace conversation and may even be relevant to your work.

11. Network over coffee

Think of those in line with you at the coffee shop as friends you haven’t met yet, and strike up a conversation with those around you. You never know if you’re standing next to a lifelong friend or even your future spouse, so don’t be shy!
